One moment can change us forever. In the aftermath of tragedy, our shattered foundations leave us questioning the things we once held certain. Shane Henderson (Valencia) faced one of the most difficult times in his life upon the creation of Promise of Redemption, a journey that would guide him from despair to a new start on life.

Promise of Redemption began as an opportunity to write songs that wouldn’t necessarily fit with other projects. “In a band with 4 or 5 other people, you don’t have complete control over everything,” explains Shane. Promise of Redemption existed through the belief in the importance of loving and being loved, recognizing everyone’s chance to be heard.

The passing of Dana Leigh Burrell kicked Shane’s world out from under his feet. As he describes it, “It meant so much to me to find a way of dealing with the problems that life sometimes brings your way.” A guitar, a voice, and the strength of true love provided him with an outlet for his grief and a new purpose for Promise of Redemption. The project’s early ideals found new meaning: taking advantage of the love we give before those people are taken from us.

From months of hard work came “When The Flowers Bloom…”, debuting January 8th, 2008, on I Surrender Records. The thirteen tracks illustrate Shane’s journey through the highest of highs and the lowest of lows. There is a raw emotion found in “When The Flowers Bloom…” that cannot be forged, welcoming listeners to the heart of Promise of Redemption. “These songs are everything inside of me,” describes Shane. “I put myself into this CD and its purpose is to help heal.”

Every listener will be able to find something in Promise of Redemption, forming some kind of connection with Shane and his story. “It’s helped me heal, and I hope that it can do the same for others. It can also open minds to a story in the form of music.” With a heart-wrenching tale of love and loss, Promise of Redemption is spreading a message of finding hope and holding on.
